Newspaper Articles
Articles included here have appeared recently in our county newspaper, the Monroe Watchman, concerning Cook's Old Mill and were prepared by the current owner, Fred Ziegler. Their purpose is to raise awareness about the history of the mill and the various families of mill owners from the 18th century onward. The articles are based on documents and letters of special interest that have emerged during our ongoing project to prepare a book on the mill for tourists, Monroe Countians, Cook genealogists and mill enthusiasts. The hope is that these articles will stimulate folks whose relatives have been associated with the mill to come forward with old letters, photographs and documents that will help to flesh out the mill history from the early settlements in 1773 to the present. Minor updates to the texts of these articles are included.
